Friday 22nd March GPO Emmett Stewart hosted a fun day for the Primary 3&4 children of Gaelscoil Neachtain, St Canices Primary and St Johns Dernaflaw at Dungiven Sports Centre.

The children participated in ‘mixed’ teams so they played along with children from the other schools of the parish. Helping create a little bit of camaraderie within the community. Although a lot of the pupils already knew each other from attending under 8 trainings at the club.

They played in a variety of games that let them display the skills they have been practicing every week in class, at home and at the club. All the games were played in great spirit and everyone had an enjoyable time throughout.

In all close to 150 pupils attended the day which ran so smoothly thanks to a number of people. First of all to Glenda McCloskey from St Canice’s Ladies GFC who helped co-ordinate the activities on the day. To the pupils of St Patricks College Dungiven (Ferghal MacIntyre, Molly McCloskey, Erin Ferris and Cian McCloskey) who assisted and supervised a number of the games. Also to Paul Gunning who is on teaching practice at St Canice’s who helped throughout the whole day, and to the rest of the teachers and assistants who help week in and week out during classes and days like these.

A huge thank you to the boys and girls who came along and made the event into the great day that it was. I look forward to the next day out. Below are some of the class photos and action shots.

Training continues at the usual times and locations, please see attached timetable
