The week that was:
Our Seniors were beaten in the early throw in on Sunday – final score 3-08 to 0-05 to Glen.
Our U16s travelled to Faughanvale on Thursday evening hoping to collect the points against a team that had yet to register a victory in the league. Despite a strong start, where an early goal and some good scores gave Dungiven a 6-point lead and a great platform for an important win, some poor decision making allowed Faughanvale to come into the match. The home team managed to collect a couple of goals before the break to lead by two. A Dungiven goal immediately after the restart should have helped settle the lads, but in a scrappy second half we never did enough to get anything for the game – after giving a really bad goal away mid-way through the half we were always chasing the game, eventually running out of time in a two point defeat. Final score 3-10 to 3-08.
Dungiven U12s had a comfortable victory over Ballinderry on Monday evening. The starting team played some superb football in the first half, thus allowing us to give all the squad players a good run out in the second half. No training on Monday night because both Club pitches are being used for matches.
The U10s competed in a GoGames Blitz on Sunday morning in Ballinderry where there were some fantastic performances from our lads, despite the poor weather conditions. Thank you to everyone who made the long journey to support the boys.
Our U8s had a great day on Saturday as around 40 of them travelled on a fun “team-building” day to Leisure-Land in Redcastle, Donegal. Thanks to all the coaches and adults who travelled to supervise, and to all the lads for being so well-behaved.
As we close in on Summer Camp 2016 (Mon 11th to Fri 15th July) we’d encourage anyone who can help out for at least some of the camp to step forward and get involved. This is a highlight of the year for all our young players, but it takes a lot of help to make it run smoothly. Give your name to any of our Underage Coaches. We will accept registrations right up until the Camp starts, but late registrations will have to wait for the unique Summer Camp half-zip.
Member’s Night – Fri 1st July – 8pm
A big night in our Club-Calendar happens this Friday night as we run our Member’s Night. As membership numbers continue to grow this will be a night for all our members to come together to celebrate all that is good about our vibrant club community.
We would especially encourage those members who don’t normally visit our club rooms to come along to get to know your club better, mix with fellow members, and sample the atmosphere of our social club.
We also want to see all of our active members of course; those involved in coaching, preparing and playing in our teams, those involved in helping run our fundraising initiatives, those involved in our various committees and working groups, It’s our chance as a Club Executive to say thank you to you all for everything that you do.
There will be music, with local band Bad Penny, finger-food, a drink or three, and loads of craic!!
Starting at 8pm, entry is free to all members. Please spread the word – thanks
