The week that was:
No senior, reserve, minor or U16 matches to report on this week.
The U14s were rewarded for their recent good form with a well-deserved win against Glen in Maghera on Tuesday evening – the attitude to training is brilliant, but with more games under their belts our players are improving week-by-week, leading to improved decision-making and performances on the pitch, so well done to all of them.
Our U12s teams played Bellaghy away on Saturday morning – the A Team were well beaten in the end but, despite missing a few regulars, the boys put in a very committed and spirited performance and never gave up. If they can sustain and build on that attitude then, no doubt, positive results will follow. The B Team were 3-point winners – a point down with time running out they finished strong with a goal and a point.
Dungiven U10s competed in another GoGames Blitz on Friday night in Owenbeg. All the lads performed really well in poor weather conditions and showed some great spirit and determination. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the teams.
We had a number of players involved with the County Teams in Celtic Park on Sunday. Commiserations to Kevin Johnston on what was a very tough day against Tyrone in the senior match. Well done to our lads who were involved with Derry Minors in a terrific and fully-deserved win over Tyrone. In a great team performance from Derry, Dungiven’s Feargal Higgins put in a really strong performance at full forward, with his brother Seamus coming on as a very effective sub mid-way through the second half. Well done to Odhran McKeever who got some pitch-time, and to Pauric McNicholl, Conor Kelly and Niall Smyth for their involvement with this strong panel.
