The week that was:
Our Senior Team were beaten by Steelstown on Saturday afternoon in the Dr Kerlin Cup – 2-12 to 1-09.
The U12’s were back in Magherafelt for a second consecutive week on Friday night. The U12A Team won all three games, beating Glenullin, Castledawson and Newbridge B. Our U12B Team played both Greenlough and Lavey on the small court, winning both games. Then they played Greenlough again, this time on the large court, and lost narrowly in a very close and competitive game. This was our last night in Magherafelt and there’s no doubt this league has been good preparation for the season ahead. Both of our teams and all of our players have shown great improvement since our first outing a month ago.
Our U16s played a challenge match against Muff on Sunday afternoon on the main pitch. Despite conceding a few early goals we stayed focused, worked hard to take our points, and clawed our way back into the game before pushing on for a fairly comfortable victory. Among some fine individual performances it was pleasing to see that the team played as a unit with a decent work rate and good support play throughout. Well done to the full squad. Thanks to Muff for making the trip to Dungiven.
Our Minor team had a walk-over in the Carlin Duffy semi-final on Sunday as Eoghan Rua chose not to travel to Páirc na nÓg, instead conceding the game.
Well done to Odhran McKeever who produced a strong, solid performance in St Pat’s Maghera’s winning MacRory Cup team against Bessbrook on St Patrick’s Day. Congratulations to St Pat’s on their great win, and especially to our players Odhran, Niall, Richie, Fergal and Seamus.
This week’s fixtures:
- Our U14’s continue with their Feile campaign on Saturday. Matches will be played on our main pitch. We play Slaughtneil at 10am, with our second match against Bellaghy throwing in at 11:40am.
- Our U16’s have a challenge match v Buncrana on Tuesday evening in Páirc na nÓg at 7pm.
- Minors have no training this week, but do have a challenge match away to Slaughtneil on Thursday night at 7:30pm.
