Important Notice:
Further to the recent decision to again vote against our new sporting facilities, the Dungiven Sports Forum has arranged a community meeting for 8.30pm, this Monday 11th Jan at the Dungiven Sports Pavilion. This is to protest at and plan a response to the continuing refusal of The Causeway Coast and Glens Council to approve our new sporting facilities.
It’s becoming clear that the only way that this community will get what it deserves will be if every person in Dungiven and surrounding areas attends meetings like this and shows their support. Please just don’t leave it to someone else!
If there was ever a time for Dungiven people and the community to stand together and show The Causeway Coast and Glens Council that we won’t stop until we get our new Sports Facilities, that this Community NEEDS, it’s NOW! We must send a strong message back to The Council to Stop Playing Politics with our children, families and Community.
So please, we at St Canice’s GAC would urge all of our Members and Families, and all the other local Sporting Clubs and Bodies, to be there on Monday night to support the Dungiven Sports Forum.
Football Matters:
Two of our senior footballers, Mark Craig and Conor Murphy, were involved in the thrilling Derry v Tyrone match in Owenbeg on Sunday afternoon. Mark scored a late goal that looked like it might give Derry victory, but Tyrone had time to respond with two late points to win by the minimum margin. Final Score 1-16 to 4-06.
Underage Training:
Due to the McKenna Cup match in Owenbeg on Wednesday night there will be no U6, U8 or U10 training this week. U12 & U14 will train on Wednesday night in Páirc na nÓg from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. Players should be dropped and collected from pitch promptly.
