Youth Notes
There’s a slight change in the previously advertised Summer training times for our youngest footballers.
Our U6’s will now train from 6:30pm-7:30pm weekly on Wednesday nights on St Canice’s Primary School pitch.
U8’s will also train here on Wednesday nights from 7:30pm-8:30pm.
U10’swill train on Wednesday nights from 7:00pm-8:00pm on St Patrick’s School pitch. Our U10’s took part in their first blitz of the year in Owenbeg on Friday night – a tough night for both teams, but games like this will no-doubt help them develop throughout this year. Now that outdoor training is under way for all groups we’d ask that parents try to ensure that all players arrive at training promptly, wear football boots and dress according to weather conditions. Players should also bring a bottle of water.
U12 Training will continue as always on a Thursday night from 7:00pm-8:00pm in Pairc na nOg. U12’s also have a Blitz this Saturday 20th April, details of which will be given to them as soon as we know times and location.
U14’s have a challenge match this Tuesday evening at Pairc ui Cathain – all players should meet at the club for 6:30pm sharp – U14 training as normal on Thursday 6:30pm – 7:30pm.
Our U16’s have training on Tuesday night 6:30pm-7:30pm in Pairc na nOg. U16’s poor start to the league continued with a 4-06 to 1-11 defeat to Glen last Thursday in Maghera – however, this was a much improved performance against a team many regard as favourites so plenty of positives were taken from this fixture. This Thursday night our U16s will host Lavey in the League – 7pm start. Lavey are also this week’s visitors to Dungiven in the minor league – match starts Monday evening at Pairc ui Cathain at 7pm.
Reminder for all underage players and parents: the wearing of gum shields is now mandatory for all underage training sessions and matches – club shop stocks gum shields for all sizes – open 11am-1pm every Saturday. Can we remind as many parents as possible to register their email address on the club Website (www.dungivengac.com) – this way you’ll be automatically advised of all important notices about training, blitz’s and matches.
