Match reviews:
Our U13B Team travelled to play a very strong Faughanvale on Wednesday night and suffered a heavy defeat. Most of the damage was done in the first half where our concession of early goals proved costly. Our lads are due lots of credit as, despite the fact that the game was effectively over by half time, they refocused and played much better football in the second period. The B Team will travel to the same venue this Wednesday night for a 7pm throw-in against Drum where we’d hope to be much more competitive – bus leaves Club at 6:15pm sharp.
Our U13A Team get their campaign off the ground on Monday night where Swatragh provide the opposition. A late switch means that this game, which was originally scheduled as a home fixture, will now be played in Swatragh – throw in 7pm – bus leaves club at 6:30pm sharp.
All U13 Players (A & B Squads) have training this Thursday night on the main pitch at 6:30pm. Please spread the word.
The much-anticipated U14A League decider against Kilrea, which was scheduled for Saturday 15th, has been postponed – we await a new date & time and will ensure this is communicated via the club Website.
Our senior team lost out in the Championship to Ballinderry on Sunday in Glen – whilst the marginally better team probably won on the day, Dungiven can consider themselves unfortunate to have fallen at this stage. After an energetic and focused performance saw them win out against Coleraine by the narrowest of margins on Monday night last in Celtic Park, the Ballinderry game was probably lost in the first 15mins of the second half. Dungiven missed some very scorable chances during this period and allowed Ballinderry to build too big a lead – despite finishing the game the stronger team we left ourselves just too much to do. A late claim for a penalty, which could have taken the match to deadlock, was denied and so Ballinderry progressed on an 0-11 to 0-08 scoreline.
