Come and Play

Over the next few week we are running an activity programme for our Primary 3 – Primary 7 boys.

The programme is to allow the boys to turn up and play games and matches for the full hour that they are there. The matches will be small sided games to allow maximum participation and maximum touches of the ball for the boys.

The activities will take place indoor at the Dungiven Sports Pavillion and will cost £1 per session. Each primary class will have three sessions over the next few weeks. See below for the times and dates for each class

We would like to leave an open invite to parents who would maybe like to help out or offer assistance to these sessions to ask Emmett who would be delighted to get you all on board and involved in the sessions.

If the boys could remember to bring a drink for the sessions and if parents could be there to collect the children at the end of the sessions as we expect a high volume of people around the center at these times, just to ensure there is no one running outside alone.

Look forward to seeing you

Thank you

Summer Camp 2019 Midweek Update

So we are halfway through the week of our Gaelic football camp and so far the weather has been kind (although it could be nicer) and the children have been fantastic playing our games.

So far this week we have had a couple of special guests as well. On Monday Nóra Ní Mhuirí from local charity STEPS came in to have an informal chat about mental health awareness.

On Wednesday we had Chris Collins (Derry Games Development Manager) come in to discuss the amount of sugar found in some of our favourite energy drinks and snacks. I think everyone was pretty shocked by some of the results. Everyone at the club are so appreciative to you both for coming in to deliver some important messages. Thanks very much.

A special word also to our guest coaches who have been fantastic as well Benny Heron, Paul Gunning and Christy Sheerin. As well as our own club coaches who give up their time to ensure that the camp is a huge success. Without your help the camp would not be the success it has been.

So we are three days down and two to go!!! Lets hope for a little sunshine before the week ends.

Here are some action shots from the week so far

Summer Camp 2019

The time has almost arrived for one of the highlights our coaching calendar the St Canice’s GAC gaelic football camp!!!

A huge thank you to everyone that has registered with us, our numbers once again are terrific and we are really excited to get the next week underway.

Please find below some details regarding the camp

  1. Camp will run from 11am-2pm each day.
  2. Registrations will begin on Monday from 10.30am (please ensure your child is there by 10.45am so we can begin the camp on time at 11am)
  3. Under 6’s (Primary 1 &2’s) the camp will run from 11am-12.30pm each day for you. We ask that parents stay with their children during these times. On Friday it will be slightly longer due to giving out the jerseys.
  4. All children from primary 3 upwards are to bring a packed lunch and drinks that will last them throughout the day. (we are aware of some nut allergies so if we can refrain from sending snacks with nuts)
  5. Children should dress accordingly for the weather. So maybe send some warmer clothes as well as their playing kits. If its forecasting to be hot and sunny make sure to apply sunscreen in the morning
  6. If parents can come onto the pitch at 2 o clock to collect your child we can make sure no one is running across the car park at a busy time.

We look forward to having a great week
