So we are halfway through the week of our Gaelic football camp and so far the weather has been kind (although it could be nicer) and the children have been fantastic playing our games.
So far this week we have had a couple of special guests as well. On Monday Nóra Ní Mhuirí from local charity STEPS came in to have an informal chat about mental health awareness.
On Wednesday we had Chris Collins (Derry Games Development Manager) come in to discuss the amount of sugar found in some of our favourite energy drinks and snacks. I think everyone was pretty shocked by some of the results. Everyone at the club are so appreciative to you both for coming in to deliver some important messages. Thanks very much.
A special word also to our guest coaches who have been fantastic as well Benny Heron, Paul Gunning and Christy Sheerin. As well as our own club coaches who give up their time to ensure that the camp is a huge success. Without your help the camp would not be the success it has been.
So we are three days down and two to go!!! Lets hope for a little sunshine before the week ends.
The time has almost arrived for one of the highlights our coaching calendar the St Canice’s GAC gaelic football camp!!!
A huge thank you to everyone that has registered with us, our numbers once again are terrific and we are really excited to get the next week underway.
Please find below some details regarding the camp
Camp will run from 11am-2pm each day.
Registrations will begin on Monday from 10.30am (please ensure your child is there by 10.45am so we can begin the camp on time at 11am)
Under 6’s (Primary 1 &2’s) the camp will run from 11am-12.30pm each day for you. We ask that parents stay with their children during these times. On Friday it will be slightly longer due to giving out the jerseys.
All children from primary 3 upwards are to bring a packed lunch and drinks that will last them throughout the day. (we are aware of some nut allergies so if we can refrain from sending snacks with nuts)
Children should dress accordingly for the weather. So maybe send some warmer clothes as well as their playing kits. If its forecasting to be hot and sunny make sure to apply sunscreen in the morning
If parents can come onto the pitch at 2 o clock to collect your child we can make sure no one is running across the car park at a busy time.
