Fitness Classes at St Canice’s GAC
Classes take place every Tuesday and Friday night at the club facilitated by highly experienced professional instructor Paul Gillespie. Paul is a fully qualified advanced Personal Trainer and certified instructor in Spin, Metafit and Kettlercise.
Tuesday
6.30pm – 7.00pm Metafit (Club Gym)
Metafit combines traditional bodyweight exercises with the latest High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), working on the premise that in order to burn fat, you need to boost your resting metabolism.
This month Paul is introducing a new workout called ‘The Shredder’. This is a highly intense session lasting approximately 25 minutes. The Metafit workout changes every 4 weeks so it keeps you on your toes.
7.00pm – 7.50pm Spin (Spin Suite)
This is an endurance based class mixed with hill climbs and sprints lasting approximately 50 minutes. We are limited to 15 due to the number of bikes so booking is essential.
Friday
6.15pm – 7.00pm Kettlercise (Main Hall)
Kettlercise uses only a Kettlebell (ranging from 4kg for beginners up to 12kg for experienced users). After picking the bell up to start the first exercise, we do not put it down again until we complete 37 x 1 minute exercises (the first 30 exercises alternate between upper and lower body and the last 7 focus on abs). Kettlercise therefore works all muscle groups, raises metabolic rate, increases lean muscle and burns fat! – With a warm up and cool down the whole class should last approximately 45 minutes.
7.00pm – 7.30pm Spin HIIT (Spin Suite)
This is a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) specific class lasting approximately 25 minutes to increase heart rate, boost metabolism and keep you burning fat long after you go home. We are limited to 15 due to the number of bikes so booking is essential.
Beginners very welcome at all classes you can work at your own pace you are not competing with anyone else. You will receive step-by-step guidance from Paul on your first night and everyone in the class to help you settle in. Everybody has been a beginner at some stage!
