Youth Notes
Our Summer (Outdoor) training schedule begins this week as follows:
U6’s will train from 6:30pm-7:15pm weekly on Wednesday nights on St Canice’s Primary School pitch.
U8’s will also train here on Wednesday nights from 7:15pm – 8:00pm.
Our U8’s had their first blitz of the year on Sunday morning in Owenbeg – both teams performed very well in all their matches…..well done to all involved. U10’s will train on Wednesday nights from 7pm-8pm on St Patrick’s School pitch.
Our U10’s have a busy week this week with their first of this year’s County Blitz’s this Friday night in Owenbeg – matches start at 7pm so players should meet there at 6:30pm. Now that outdoor training is under way for all groups we’d ask that parents try to ensure that all players arrive at training promptly, wear football boots and dress according to weather conditions. Players should also bring a bottle of water.
U12 Training will continue as always on a Thursday night from 7pm-8pm in Pairc na nOg.
U14’s are now training twice per week at Pairc na nOg – Tuesday and Thursday 6:30pm – 7:30pm.
Our U14 A Team played their final Féile group matches on Thursday night. A greatly changed team drew the first game with Glen. The second game saw us suffer a heavy loss to a physically strong, fitter and sharper Swatragh team.
Our U16 team had their opening league game of the year on Friday night at home, surprisingly losing heavily to the visiting Swatragh team. Remember: the wearing of gum shields is now mandatory for all underage training sessions and matches – club shop stocks gum shields for all sizes – open 11am-1pm every Saturday.
Can we remind as many parents as possible to register their email address on the club Website (www.dungivengac.com) – this way you’ll be automatically advised of all important notices about training, blitz’s and matches.
Club Gear
The Club Shop, which stocks an extensive range of Club merchandise, is now open every Saturday from 11am-1pm.
For further info call Attracta on 07796 277855
Important: A new GAA ruling came into effect on 1st Jan 2013 making it mandatory for all Underage Players to wear Mouth-Guards / Gumshields during all training sessions and matches – the club will operate a strict policy with regards to this rule so please ensure your children comply – the Club now stocks gum shields in the club shop (open 11am-2pm on Saturdays).

St Canice’s Gac Presents
From the company who originally brought you ‘A Night With George’, Brassneck Theatre Company presents ‘The Sweety Bottle.’
Belfast in the 1970s. The height of the troubles. In a room at the back of popular confectionery shop, ‘The Sweety Bottle’, operates an even more popular drinking den. This shebeen is a place where punters come to escape the troubles around them and also to exorcise their own personal demons.
Through the many huge characters and calamitous incidents, we embark on a voyage to an era where the city and its people never ceased to find humour in even the darkest of times. A hilariously nostalgic trip down memory lane, ‘The Sweety Bottle’ is sure to have you crying with laughter as we remember everything that was good about Belfast during the rare auld times.
