On behalf of St Canice’s Gac i would like to thank All the singers and everyone who represented St Canice’s Gac in this years Scor na Og. Very well done to Megan Mc Grellis who came 3rd in the Solo singing final. This was a great achievement for our club who have been absent from the Scor in recent years.Hopefully next year we can show everyone the fantastic talent we have in our town and club and bring home silverware.

There’s an important meeting for all club coaches and managers at 12:30pm on Sunday 2nd December – this is to provide an introduction to incorporating strength and conditioning exercises into your training sessions. Full attendance would be appreciated.
A celebration evening for our successful U14 squad will take place in the Club on the night of Saturday 8thDecember – all of the U14 Squad is invited to attend with their parents. ALL Club managers and coaches are also encouraged to attend this evening to help celebrate the achievements of this team during the 2012 season.
As part of the City of Culture celebrations for 2013 the Féile Peil na nÓg festival of Gaelic Football will be hosted by County Derry in June of 2013 – as a host club Dungiven will be again required to host children and coaches from the visiting teams. Planning for this huge weekend begins now – we’ll be in touch shortly with all player families to begin organising hosts – families will be expected to host a minimum of two children per house. We’d ask all members to support the Club in our efforts with regards to Féile – as well as hosting there’ll be lots of other jobs to be done during the event so the more willing to lend a hand the better.
U21 Football.
Defeated by a single point against Ballinderry Shamrocks 0.08-0.07 in a game they should have won! St Canice’s controlled this game for long periods but failed to put the scores on the board. Far the better side on the day with some outstanding displays by Kevin Johnston(My man of the match), Craig Chewning, Marty Mc Closkey and Kevin O’Connor who had to be replaced in the second half after he received a bad injury.
Conditions had to be the worst i have seen with the fog that dense one could hardly see from one side of the field to the other. Should this game have been played? That decision had to be the referees! And should have been taken for the safety of all players! We are told not to criticise the Referees but one has to question his decision in this case, never mind his performance during the game. It does not give players much heart when constantly wrong decisions are giving against you.
Another heartbreak for the lads but there is always next year. We have a great group of players and you will have many a good day ahead. Thank you on behalf of St Canice’s for all the hard work you lads put in throughout the season, all the tough training sessions you went through to get you to this level. Thank you to to the management team for your dedication to the players and the club and for your time that you gave up to help St Canice’s.
Thank you
