Under 8 Indoor Training will resume from 6-7pm on Wed 7th November in the Sports Pavilion. Can parents please note that this is for players who were registered as U8 during the 2012 season – i.e. these players will now be in P4 & P5 – younger players should not be taking part in these sessions for fear that they might get injured playing against the bigger lads. The final indoor session of this year for U8’s will take place on next Wed 14th November.
An end-of-year Underage Football Presentation will take place next Sunday 11th November in the Club’s main hall – U6 & U8 starts at 6pm sharp – U10 & U12 starts at 7pm sharp. We’d hope that all players who were registered during the 2012 season, and their parents/guardians, will attend this event where medal and certificate presentations will take place.
As part of the City of Culture celebrations for 2013 you’ll no-doubt be aware that the Féile Peil na nÓgfestival of Gaelic Football will be hosted by County Derry in June of 2013 – as a host club Dungiven will be again required to host children and coaches from the visiting teams. Anyone who travelled to Portarlington to follow our Under 14 team in the Féile finals earlier this past summer will have experienced first-hand the warm welcome extended to all of the Dungiven contingent, players and supporters alike. The bar was set very high for us by Portarlington, and we should aspire to promote our Club and our town to the same high standard during next year’s competition. Planning for this huge weekend begins now – we’ll be in touch shortly with all player families to begin organising hosts – families will be expected to host a minimum of two children per house. We’d ask all members to support the Club in our efforts with regards to Féile – as well as hosting there’ll be lots of other jobs to be done during the event so the more willing to lend a hand the better.
