Underage Notes:
Most of our Underage groups have now stopped training for the year. Our U10’s have stopped only temporarily – with one more competition at the end of this month they are likely to regroup for one or two sessions – watch out for the texts from the U10 managers.
Our U13B team played their first game of this year’s competition last Thursday night at Pairc na nOg – as the only Derry Club to field a second team, Dungiven’s B team are always going to be up against it…..despite losing to a good Castledawson team our lads acquitted themselves really well and should be very proud of themselves. Next up on Wednesday is an away fixture against Faughanvale – bus leaves club car park at 6:15pm sharp – throw-in at 7pm, and the lads should be back home around 8:30pm.
The U13 A team begin their campaign on Monday 17th Sept with a home game against Swatragh. All U13 fixtures are on the Website.
It was a bad day in the office for our U14 team in the Championship Final on Saturday – whilst everything seemed to be going according to plan for most of the first half, by which time we had built up a well-deserved 6-point lead, a quick plunder of 3 goals from Kilrea left us behind at the break. Despite loads of possession against the second-half breeze, Dungiven were uncharacteristically unable to deliver the sort of performance we’ve grown used to seeing and were well beaten in the end. After suffering the pain of two final defeats to Dungiven already this season, this time it was Kilrea’s turn to celebrate….congratulations to them.
Thanks to all who travelled to Celtic Park to support the team. We’ll be hoping to avenge this result against Kilrea in this weekend’s league decider – we’d ask that you all please turn out again and get behind the team to help them finish the season with the result they deserve.
